Literature Text

Some say that when you feel as though you are at one with the world, you can almost feel all that nature has to offer, and even feel the pain that nature can get from hazardous things. There is one land in the world of Gadooa, in particular, that has had an event such as this. The lush island of Kuvia.

It is a blooming paradise with the sounds of birds, insects and other creatures all around, and the scent of fruit and flowers hanging heavily in the air, its warm climate allowing life to flourish. When the sun sets to the west and the moon rises over the eastern horizon, one can see the silhouettes of seabirds and seaside pterosaurs as they seek roosts to spend the current night. During the day, the jungle is alive with many kinds of daytime lizards, snakes, flying insects, ground-nesting and tree-nesting birds, and small mammals, such as shrew-like solenodons and squirrel-like Ailuravus. By night, it comes alive with many night creatures such as potoos, frogmouths, Darwinius, and leaf-tailed geckos.

All of a sudden, it was terribly harmed for the first time in its history by a dark force. But then it was saved and brought back to its original verdant state, all thanks to the caring and bravery of one who lives in this island's capital area. The area in question is the capital village of Dodaria.

The primary inhabitants of this village, who originally founded it, are these flightless, grayish-brown, 3-foot-tall birds called dodos. They are docile and love to eat fallen fruits, nuts, seeds, bulbs, roots, crabs and clams. Their village is uniquely designed; each individual house made from flat stones, bamboo shoots, and long grass. These birds have always been prosperous in their way of life, living alongside the other Kuvian inhabitants in perfect harmony.

Every week or so, especially on days where the light of the sun shines brightly through the trees, casting out great long shadows, all the dodo chicks, joined by younglings of other species, rush to one house that is beautifully crafted upon a small, 15-foot-tall bluff. This is the home of the Czar of Dodaria. These young dodos, black howler monkeys, veiled chameleons and more all rush to the leader’s home to hear an amazing story, told by the elderly butler of the house; Wompora the black giant squirrel. At 4 feet long, from nose to tail, he was an amazing sight to the youngsters. They would all then follow him away from the royal house towards a particularly tall cycad; where he then climbed up the bizarre plant and sat on top. Once the youngsters were settled down and had toned down their talking to silence, Wompora began to speak: “Hello, friends. This week’s story is about the Survival-Sorcery War”

The young ones became intrigued immediately at the mention of this particular event. As Wompora looked down upon the eclectic group of attentive young ones, representing the many different species of the island, he could not help but admire the unity amongst them. None feeling lesser or superior than the other. This pleasant sight of harmonious friendship made him smile proudly.

“Now, children, our island home has been through a lot during the hard time of the Survival-Sorcery War, only to be freed from demise by the courage of the Czar's wife, the empress.” Wompora continued, “Before I tell you more, you must all gaze at the land for a moment, take in its wonder and majesty and feel thankful that we are all here, blessed to live in such a paradise. Now, little ones, let me tell you the tale of both the war and of the empress’s early life...”
Okay, to show you all how it'll look, here's the entire prologue to the first book in the Gadooa series, The Quest for Destiny.
