Description
Long, long ago, when cathedrals dedicated to the Great One were still young, Animal ancients with incredible minds crafted special kinds of crystals and stones from many of the rarest of geological minerals. They then blessed these crystal stones with holy light from the Great One, giving these objects the powers of light, both as healing methods and as weapons.
These Spirit Stones, as they were named, were at first used by priests/priestesses for protecting the innocent and themselves from the forces of darkness that came from the Evil One. Later on, paladin knights used Spirit Stones as weapons while combating either dark influence or mortals who were truly posessed by evil.
Spirit Stones are unable to harm anything with a good, righteous nature. They can only harm evil.
Nowadays, Spirit Stones are very rare. Whenever one is discovered (probably in some place like a temple, a tomb or an old casket), those particular Animals see them as precious artifacts that they either exhibit in a museum, kept in the posession of that particular Animal or just simply left back where they had found it.
At one point in the first TCoG book, the Band of Four (Johyvalla, Jeela, Hayglo and Coomak) discover one and are very curious about it.
